Taiwan Expedition Day 5 - Guest-Blogged By 浪迹天涯小狗
I ish doing bungee-jumping.
26th April 2006
It was raining heavily when the alarm went off, so the mistress and RR 损-ed each other to continue nuahing. Left the hotel at 10+ but the streets were still as quiet as at nite. Only then we realised that they really open their shops very late, like 11++ 12pm like dat.
Foggy day out again, raining as usual
Taipei City Hall station
We went to the business hub of Taipei, jus to be up close and personal with TP101.
Taipei 101. Cant seem to squeeze it into the size of the mistresses' lens.
The interior. Full of branded shops.
We have to walk past the 新光三越 buildingS to reach TP101. Terribly huge place. Its abt the distance From Paragon to Plaza Singapore.
We've been so diligently wrapping our wet umbrellas with the plastic umbrella covers provided to avoid staining the reflective floor inside the buildings. No lah, somehow everyone is doing it so, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
We proceeded to 五分铺 after seeing the Raffles Place of Taipei and started to do some shopping, dat is, after satisfying the hungry pangs.
凉面 under some overhead bridge
凉面 normally Singaporeans will associate it with cold soba. But NO! The 凉面 in Taiwan doesnt come in soba forms. And 不只酱~! There's loads of varieties in their convenience stores. The ones we had was done on the spot (although the 面 was 喇凉-ing for very long already). The sauce, I dunno is wat combination. Looks like diluted miso with oyster sauce or something like dat. Me is no food gourmet. Me only noe how to eat.
Its not fantastically nice lah. Jus something different.
五分铺
五分铺 is the famous clothes wholesale area in Taiwan. Actually its jus like an extended version of Bugis Junction, with rows of clothing shops lined up along the streets, doesnt care abt display and selling merchandises like in a warehouse sale. But the clothes being either so lacy, lady-like, or XL-sized guy's shirts did not geared on the mistresses' spending mode. The earrings do thou, althou not much, jus abt 5 pairs...
The mistress ended up with only 4 tees and 2 polos, totalling NT700(2 tees) + (NT190 x 4) (4 polos and tees) = NT1460 or SGD$73. Dats not a lot considering the crazy shopping sprees some girls do there.
Since it was way too early to go 绕河 NIGHT MARKET, the mistress pulled RR to have some overseas KTV experience. We went Holiday KTV, which is in the middle of 绕河 and 五分铺. 4 hrs package for 2 pax (and a dog) costs NT882. Dats pretty cheap considering the free flow food bar and refreshments. The sound system is rather fun to play with compared to Singapore's, with preset echo effects to mimick Tokyo Dome or bathroom, etc, and even able to alter the voice into duck quacks and such.
The promotional freebies they give with KTV rooms. I've 4 of the SAME magnets lor.
Super big ktv room with in-room toilets. They gave us a room which is normally given to 6 ppl in Singapore. Not sure if that's their standard room for 2 pax (and a dog).
I truly admired the service that they provide there, be it due to the competition factor or its jus their way of serving customers. When I went out looking for help for a flat mic, the usher immediately knew wat was wrong with the mic (I dun remember I told him abt the flat battery), took out a battery pack from his pocket, with skillful manoveurs, changed the battery pack and tactfully passed me back the mic with both hands politely. Wonder when Singapore ktvs can reach this kinda service standard when they're still using corded mics.
Holiday KTV doesnt have the rating system so cannot play with it. But there's this birthday number and song thing which rates the particular song for some 开运 stuff. The mistress scored 93 with the waiter in the room for part of the song. Bueh zhun one, hahah.
By the time we left the KTV, it was STILL raining. And maybe due to the rain, not much stores were open in 绕河, making it very 冷清清. The mistress bought a set of Seed Heroines 7 there for NT630. Slightly cheaper than Latendo.
Some temple at 绕河
绕河街观光夜市
MRT (actually is jus the mistress playing with her camera).
Day 6 coming right up! Gosh I'm blogging so fast that I had to post date the entry arbo the whole layout will go koyak.
